Things we shouldn't feel embarrassed about

Shame and embarrassment have the potential to hinder people from experiencing the utmost happiness in life due to the fear of judgment. These emotions are often rooted in societal norms that impose unrealistic expectations on us, causing us to suppress our true selves. To make matters worse, the fear of embarrassment not only takes up our time, but also weakens our self-confidence, which is crucial in various areas of our lives. Overcoming this fear may seem daunting, but practice is key. By embracing the very things that used to make us sweaty and nervous, we gain control over them and diminish their power over us. Eventually, we realize that life goes on even after these experiences, and the opinions of others become less important. By facing our fears, we also become role models for others who may be struggling with similar feelings. Without further ado, click through and discover all the things we should stop feeling embarrassed about right now.

What's your love language?

Lately it seems the world of dating and romance has been gravitating towards the topic of love languages. Many people know there are different ways of expressing love, but few people know the origins of this conversation, or that it's far from new. It actually stems back to 1992, when a man named Gary Chapman published a book called ‘The Five Love Languages: How to Express Heartfelt Commitment to Your Mate.’ It outlines five different ways to express and experience love, for which Chapman coined the term "love languages." He claims that the five love languages are: receiving gifts, quality time, words of affirmation, acts of service, and physical touch. According to this theory, each person has one primary and one secondary love language. Being familiar with these forms of expressing and experiencing love, and knowing which languages you and your partner prefer, can be the make-or-break factor in a relationship. After all, lasting relationships, even in Hollywood, depend first and foremost on love and communication, and speaking different love languages can be as different as Chinese is from English. The book sold 8,500 copies in its first year, which was actually four times what the publisher expected. The next year it sold 17,000, and two years later, 137,000. It has spent around 300 weeks on the New York Times Best Seller list, it has been translated into over 40 languages, and it continues to become popular with every new generation embarking on their search for love. If you’re curious about how to figure out your own or someone else’s love language, and you want to know how to use those languages to better your relationships, check out this gallery to go over the basics and get some concrete examples.

Discover Satan's equivalents in religions around the world

Most belief systems center around the necessity to improve ourselves and avoid sin. In almost every major religion, there is a source of good and a source of evil. Good is usually associated with one or multiple gods, while evil is often embodied by a malicious, destructive character. In Christianity, Satan is the personification of evil. He was once an angel called Lucifer who lived in Heaven, but he fell from grace and was banished by God. He was sent to Hell, a realm of everlasting fire where he would live forever among demons and the tortured souls of other sinners. Satan's role in the Bible is to tempt Jesus away from his righteous path, and subsequently to inspire sin in mankind. Morality, sin, and evil are themes that appear in many religions, and are often represented by a monstrous figure like Satan. Intrigued? Then click through the following gallery to see how the devil is portrayed in belief systems from around the world.
