Bahraini director Jaffer Mohammed Al-Baqali’s short MADE FOR BEAUTY ... USED FOR UGLINESS will hold its world premiere at the Saudi Film Festival, which is running from May 2nd to the 9th in Saudi Arabia.

The psychological thriller short follows a soldier, who, after 28 years of exile, finally meets his daughter in his cabin just as he is on the verge of committing suicide.

Directed, produced, edited, and co-written by the award-winning filmmaker Jaffer Mohammed Al-Baqali, MADE FOR BEAUTY ... USED FOR UGLINESS stars Mubarak Khamis and Aidma Alasmar. Meanwhile, MAD Solutions handles the movie’s Arab world distribution.

Jaffer Mohammed Al-Baqali is a Bahraini writer and director who is a civil engineer by day and a filmmaker by night who uses an unfamiliar approach to highlight life’s greatest issues.

Al-Baqali won many awards in Bahrain, Tunisia, Netherlands, Iraq, India, and the UAE for his film AL HAKIM (2020).

Before becoming a filmmaker, Al-Baqali worked as an editor and a production designer in Bahrain and beyond, but he eventually found his passion in filmmaking and founded his company — Black Hole Films.
