Early warning signs that your child might be dangerous
If you're asked to imagine a dangerous person, you're likely not going to imagine a child, but childhood is actually the time when most issues regarding violent behavior set in. Plus, some children can become dangerous from a young age. Warning signs that predict violent behavior in children start to show up quite early, but when left unchecked these children can grow up to become adolescents and adults who are abusive to others or even end up in the headlines for mass shootings. As parents, it is of utmost importance to keep a careful eye on the development of your child, and make sure you nip these potential problems in the bud—for the good of yourself, your child, and anyone that crosses their path in the future. Fortunately, researchers have long begun to identify how to spot young children who pose a risk of harm to others, either now or in the future, as well as methods for how to deal with them. These Delicious Passover Foods Deserve a Spot on Your Seder Table
Plus, some of our favorite Passover recipes. Every spring, Jews around the world sit down to begin the eight-day (or seven days, depending on the family) festival of Passover with a dinner called a seder. In 2024, the holiday begins on the evening of April 22nd and ends at sundown on Tuesday, April 30. Though every family has its own traditions and rituals, the purpose of the holiday is to retell the Biblical story of the Jewish people fleeing slavery and finally leaving Egypt. The festival is perhaps best known for the Passover foods consumed (and not consumed) throughout the week. Though every Jewish family has its own standards and levels of observance, one of the most common rules is that Jews cannot eat anything considered chametz. This refers to anything that contains grain that has come into contact with water and had the chance to rise–think bread, pancakes, cupcakes, and cookies. This is because when the enslaved Jews were leaving Egypt, they didn’t have enough time to allow their bread to rise. Many Jews will only consume foods that are unleavened and have a special kosher for Passover marking. Additionally, some Jews that come from Eastern European countries also avoid foods called kitniyot, which include rice, mustard, corn, beans, and other legumes. Instead, many Jews will use ingredients like almond flour, potato starch, and an unleavened cracker called matzah to cook throughout the holiday. When the sun sets on the first night of Passover, a large dinner will be served, and at the center of the table is the seder plate. A large plate with a shank bone, egg, bitter herbs, greens, lettuce, and a special mixture called charoset (more on these later). Have you had these top 10 common nightmares?
Everyone has, at one point in their lives, woken up in a pool of sweat induced by the heart-pumping terror that only nightmares can stir. It’s a horrible way to reenter consciousness, and the feelings leave a strange residue in your body, but nightmares are still an essential part of dreaming. So why not learn a bit more about them? We’re quick to analyze our fun dreams, whether they’re made of our desires or pleasures, but nightmares are cut from a different cloth altogether, made from all the stresses and anxieties lingering below. But, like dreams, nightmares aren’t easy to decipher. Accepting the images at face value deprives you of a much deeper understanding of your subconscious, and nightmares tend to reflect inner feelings rather than outer situations anyway. Recurring nightmares can speak even more volumes, and exploring that recurrence with your fellow humankind can reveal many patterns and more connection between us than we ever imagined. Check out this gallery to see the top 10 common nightmares people experience, and tips on how you can address the frightening feelings.
